Heat preparedness for people who work outdoors
The problem
Extreme heat is an occupational hazard for outdoor workers, and preparedness measures rarely reach informal workers.
Why it matters
Heat mortality falls hardest on those with no option to stay indoors.
Proposed solution
Map shade, drinking water and rest facilities at work sites and transport hubs, and file gaps as tracked issues before summer.
How it would be implemented
Pre-summer volunteer audits in covered constituencies, with gaps escalated to the local body ahead of the season.
Risks, and what we would do about them
Risk
Audits completed too late to matter for that season.
Mitigation
Fixed calendar: audits complete by the end of February, escalations by mid-March.
