A note on the withdrawn commitment

We withdrew a statewide membership drive because we did not have the volunteer capacity to run it without pressuring people into it, which our own Constitution forbids. Announcing it anyway, and quietly not doing it, would have been the normal thing to do. This page exists so that the normal thing is harder for us.
