Publish real input costs and real mandi prices, locally
The problem
Farmers frequently sell without reliable knowledge of prevailing prices, and buy inputs without a reliable local price reference.
Why it matters
Information asymmetry is where a large share of farm income is lost, before any policy question arises.
Proposed solution
A local price board for each covered constituency: current mandi rates and prevailing input prices, collected and published daily by volunteers.
How it would be implemented
Volunteers collect and submit prices; published on the platform and by SMS where connectivity is poor.
Risks, and what we would do about them
Risk
Inaccurate or stale prices could cause real financial loss.
Mitigation
Timestamp every price, show its source, and mark anything over 48 hours old as stale rather than displaying it as current.
